Feed ½ - ¾ cup of food – with no water – just food. Leave food down for 15-20 minutes and then pick it up. The puppy will be done with its meal after this amount of time.
Water should be offered after the puppy eats. This is because if you give your puppy water with their food, they’ll fill up with water and not eat as much food.
We use Hill's Science Diet puppy food.
Don’t make sudden or drastic food changes, as it will upset your puppy’s tummy and digestive system. If you want to change your puppy’s food, it's best to make the transition slowly. Allow at least 1 week to complete the transfer.
Puppy should go outside after eating, drinking, sleeping, or whenever they are crying.
We recommend crate training your puppy. Don’t buy a huge crate! This invites your puppy to pick a spot to use the bathroom. Instead, start with a small suitable crate based on your puppy’s size and gradually go with a bigger crate as your puppy grows.
Your new puppy will need lots of attention and exercise to be happy and content. Take your puppy out for walks, play games, and let your puppy run free in open spaces that won’t endanger your puppy. Use your common sense judgment. Australian Cattle Dog puppies, in particular, are high-energy dogs that require regular exercise to exhaust their energy. A tired puppy/dog is a happy dog. That means they’ve played themselves out and are ready to nap.
As your puppy gets older, you should socialize with other dogs and people. Before your puppy comes home with you, he or she will socialize with people and other puppies here at B & E Farms.
If, within the first 6 months after taking your puppy home, you feel you are unable to care for your puppy and/or give it the proper home it deserves, B & E Farms will take the puppy back at no charge to B & E Farms.
